Tablework (Massage Therapy

While I am a licensed massage therapist, my work on the table is largely informed by Spacial Dynamics. It includes:

  • movement streams, reminding each area of the body of its ideal direction and flow.
  • Slow and gentle work that creates or restores space within an area of the body, i.e. an arthritic joint, scar tissue, tight muscles, etc and aims at bringing it out of its isolation and integrate it back into the whole.
  • using movement streams to explore a new position, i.e. for the shoulders, allowing you to make it your own and live into that area of your body in a new way.
  • (passive) movement to give the body an experience of a new way of moving, and integrating its new freedom.

Each session is tailored to address the individual client's situation, and several modalities may be utilized in one session.

If possible, treatments take place on the massage table or shiatsu mat, assuring client comfort and ease of access for the practitioner. If need be, modified treatments can be given bedside.

Certain conditions may require clearance from a physician before massage therapy can begin.

Organic cotton sheets, washed with environmentally safe and hypoallergenic detergent, are used for table and mat treatments.

Pure Organic Jojoba Oil, proven to be well tolerated by people with allergies, leaves your skin well nourished without feeling greasy. In addition, Dr. Hauschka Body Oils (from organic, biodynamic, and sustainably hand crafted ingredients), are now being used! They have wonderful healing capacities and amazing frangrances. Hot water bottles or compresses may be used for client comfort and therapeutic application.

If you prefer music with your treatments, bring your favorite soothing music CD or one provided by the therapist can be used.
