Are You Seeing With All Eyes Available?

There are people who can 'see' what is going on behind them. Many teachers and mothers seem to be able to do this. Without turning around, they ask Lilly to stop what she is doing, or thank Larry for coming back to his seat. Are you one of these lucky folks? What is it they actually do?

Let's take a look at a possible explanation.
Since we as humans only have two physical eyes, and they are located on the FRONT of our heads, something else must be going on.

Perhaps we have other organs to 'see' with. When you observe closely what people with the 'eyes in the back of the head' ability are doing, you will find that they are able to spread out their attention far beyond the confines of their bodies. They 'fill' the whole room (or beyond), and encompass everything in it. Then, when something is out of order or unusual, they 'see' it or sense it. Beyond simply registering a sound or other sense impression, they feel WHERE something is happening.

A mother may know that her toddler has left the room and wandered into the one next door. She knows WHERE he went, or at least that he is not in her immediate vicinity anymore.

This suggests we may have a kind of spatial radar. Depending on how far our radar reaches, we can sense things closer by or further away. It is a FELT sense that resonates with the body, gives it information, BEFORE it forms into a thought. Whoa, what??

Let's try something:
Close your eyes and see if you can feel your bottom. Unless you have a condition that compromises sensation, this is pretty easy, right?
Now, can you feel the chair under your bottom?
The shirt on your chest? So far so good.
Now take your hand and touch the other arm. Lighten the touch so you barely touch the skin. Still there? OK.
Little by little, move your hand away from the other arm, eyes closed!
When you reach the border where you can barely feel it anymore, open your eyes and see how far your hand is away from your arm.

Were you able to feel your hand on your arm, as if it was touching, even when it wasn't anymore? What did you feel? Is it the same when you do it again? Does the distance change when you try this with the other arm? Other areas of your body?

What if we could (learn to) do this with our entire body? I think you already have a sense for the answer...
Chances are, that when we open these 'eyes' all over our bodies, we would receive a lot more information on what is going on around us.

Spacial Dynamics® does just that: Explore the dynamic between you and the space around you. The space between your arm and your hand. The space between you and your toddler. You and your computer screen. You and your children, spouse, co-workers, students, patients. You and the cars in front and behind you. You get the idea.

The space around us may hold the key to accessing a LOT more information. We just have to learn to tune our 'receiver' accordingly. In this sense, our entire body can become a sense organ. An organ for perceiving the space around us, and the people and objects in it.

Try it out, and let me know how it goes! Go to different areas of your body and check their ability to 'see'. Some may be easy, others a little more challenging.

Are there places or 'eyes' of your body that remain closed? Some of them may come around with a little coaxing and practice. Others may need a little extra help with Spacial Dynamics® based bodywork. As always, I am here when you are ready. Or if you are out of town, I will connect you with the closest Spacial Dynamics® practitioner.

When you play with the space around you in the way described above, listen to the thoughts that form. Are they different? How?

Have a good week, and open those 'eyes' all over your body so they can perceive the space around you!
